VIta- Enchanted Doll Contest 2015

Leo is here! He was born at the end of February. He is a lovely and healthy boy. I am so very happy!
Right before his birth I made this drawing for the Enchanted Doll Contest 2015.

Introducing Vita. Her tattoo shows the unfolding of life through the intermixed symboligies of the Moirae myth and of the changing seasons. Clotho is the spinster that generates the thread of life, Lachesis defines the lengths of the thread, while Atropos cuts it. As winter’s snow falls to cover with silence the dead, there is hope for the future, in the form of seeds that fall on the ground, a promise of rebirth and renewal in the generations to come.
The project could be expanded with the depiction of three embracing female figures of different ages on the back of the doll. These would represent both the different phases of a woman’s life and the joys of motherhood (and grand-motherhood)."
Clearly, my pregnancy affected my choice of topic! :)
I did not win this year, but I enjoyed working on this very much!

Ritratto di bimbo 2 finished

All right! I did it! I finished the third picture of the portrait of the family children for Isabella before her brother comes! Yey!

She has asked for a picture of baby Pluto, so I think I will have to comply, if I can...but I think that should be within my reach and simpler to do. :)

Have you gotten any snow? We barely were able to celebrate Isabella's birthday before we got snowed in! That's the trouble for those who are born in the winter....but we were lucky with our scheduling this year!

Victoria

Here is my entry for the Popovy Sisters contest. You know that I have a weak spot for art dolls. Last year I discovered these Russian artists, whose production is very interesting and captivating. This year they launched an illustration contest I thought to give it a try.

This has been inspired from their latest line, called Royals, which is based on the game of chess. Here is victorious white queen, regal and ferocious, beautiful and deadly. You can also look at it as the price of power or the horrors of war...I know, it's unusually gruesome for me, but every once in a while it's fun to change tone.

Back to my regular children works, now.

Another Ritratto di Bambino

Little Giac is now almost 10 month old. Time to make a new portrait to add to Bella's room. Drawing in ready...I am leasurely working on the inks.

It's strange to think that after this I will make just one more portrait, for little baby L., and then the series will be completed.
There will be other kids-themed drawings though...Bella now has her own requests (she wants a drawing of baby Pluto) and I have to start thinking about decorating the new nursery!
