29 Faces: 21

A lady emerging from darkness. My characters are usually shown under a rather direct strong light. I would like to add more drama by using stronger shadows like in the case of this sketch...

  1. Love the way you have created the hair, those delicate curls are beautiful, the strong shading works really well.

    1. Thank you. I wanted to spend more time teasing out the details of the hair, then I decided against it, so I just drew the idea of curls. ;)

    1. Thank you, Tammie. This purely pencil exercise are so different from my usual process. My pencils are limited to super-delicate outlines and crosshatching never comes into play...because the markers do all the job of shading. This is a neat change. :)

    1. Hi Denthe, thank you! My husband would say that "she looks concerned"..in the sense that she looks like her mandible probably juts out a bit too much, but eh...she has pretty eyes! :D
